Designing and conceptualizing this activation posed a significant challenge, as it was my second project for Survios and expectations were higher. The goal was to create an experience that was bigger and better than the previous one, pushing creative boundaries while maintaining core thematic elements. Balancing the eerie, suspenseful atmosphere of space horror with the iconic presence of aliens required careful integration of visual, auditory, and interactive components. The challenge lay in crafting an immersive narrative that honored the franchise’s legacy while delivering fresh, impactful moments that would captivate and engage the audience on a deeper level.
To meet the challenge, I focused on the horror side of the game by adding a big jump scare. I worked with Hollywood special effects expert Steve Shines to create a Face Hugger scare that would shock guests and make them crave safety. I also knew I had to come up with something special for the entrance so the moment guests walked into the space, the tone was set… ALIENS were loose and killing.
From the moment guests walked in, they were transported to the horrifying world of ALIEN, navigating a meticulously designed layout filled with scare actors, custom mechanical props, chilling soundscapes, projection mapping, jump scares, themed food and beverage, and atmospheric lighting mimicking the iconic films and new game. With a brilliant team of artists, designers, and technicians, we blurred the line between reality and VR, crafting an experience that left attendees breathless.
